Semaglutide (also known as Ozempic or Wegovy) is an FDA-approved injectable glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) agonist that is administered once weekly to help with long-term weight management. It functions by successfully reducing appetite, improving portion control, and decreasing your cravings for food, particularly sweets. This all helps control blood sugar levels which can help lose body fat and help reduce overall weight (and keep it off.) Semaglutide should be used with a reduced calorie meal plan and increased physical activity. What Is Semaglutide®?

A very little protein (peptide), Semaglutide triggers metabolic pathways in the body to speed up blood sugar metabolism and suppress hunger. It imitates a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). You may have heard of Semaglutide before. It has been used to help treat type 2 diabetes under the brand names Ozempic ® and Saxenda®.
Semaglutide is a synthetic glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA) that belongs to a class of antidiabetic agents called incretin mimetics. Incretins are endogenous compounds, including glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), that improve glycemic control once released into the circulation via the gut. Semaglutide subcutaneous injection (Ozempic) are used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in 2017. Semaglutide was FDA-approved for weight reduction under the brand name Wegovy® in June 2021 after more research and investigations revealed that it is also suitable for the purpose of losing weight.

Recommended Usage
A once-weekly dosing schedule
Semaglutide is usually taken once a week, exactly as prescribed by your health care provider, along with diet and exercise, to lower blood sugar in hyperglycemic adults, and promote healthy weight loss in individuals
Starting Dosage:
The starting dose is 0.25mg once or twice per week for the first 3 weeks is recommended. This will allow your body to get used to the medicine.
Maintenance Dosage:
At Week 4, our healthcare professional recommends to increase the dose to 0.5mg once or twice a week, to be given for at least a further 3 weeks.
Additional Control Dosage:
1-2 mg once weekly can be dosed after the Starting dose (0.25 mg) and Maintenance Dose (0.50mg) has been completed. 1-2 mg once weekly is advised if additional blood sugar control is required.
Consult our medical team before increasing your dose past Maintenance dose (0.50mg).
Your A1C needs may shift as your type 2 diabetes changes. That is why Semaglutide can be administered in doses of 1 mg or doses of 2mg to give you additional A1C control. And while your dose may change, nothing will change about how you take Semaglutide® — once or twice a week, on the same day(s) every week.
The maximum dose of Semaglutide is 2 mg once a week. Always follow your health care provider’s instructions on Semaglutide® dosing.
Additional Dosage Information:
Take Semaglutide with or without food, on the same day every week, exactly as prescribed by your health care provider.
If your last injection was taken two days ago or longer, you are free to switch the day of the week that you take Semaglutide.
Other medications that contain Semaglutide or other GLP-1 receptor agonists should not be taken together with Elite Bioscience Semaglutide.
Mixing Instructions
Step 1: Attach the Needle

Remove the bottom tab of a new needle and screw it tightly onto the pen.

Remove the clear outer cap, leaving the needle cap in place.
Step 2: Priming the Pen (No Mixing Needed)

This pen is pre-mixed and ready to use, no reconstitution required.

Remove the needle cap to expose the needle.

Hold the pen vertically with the needle pointing up.

Turn the dosage dial out, then press it in slowly.

Repeat until a drop of liquid exits the needle tip.

Replace the needle cap and store in the fridge until ready to use.
Step 3: Dosing Instructions

Remove the needle cap, clean the skin with alcohol (preferably abdomen area).

Turn dosage dial to your desired amount (as advised by your protocol).

Inject subcutaneously by pressing the dial fully in until it reads “0”.

Hold in place for 20 seconds before removing to ensure full delivery.
