Understanding Lyophilization
Lyophilization (freeze-drying) removes water from peptide solutions under vacuum, creating a stable powder. This process dramatically extends shelf life — from weeks in solution to months or years as a powder. Most research peptides are supplied as lyophilized powders for this reason.
Reconstitution Protocol
To reconstitute a lyophilized peptide: 1) Allow the vial to reach room temperature. 2) Add bacteriostatic water slowly along the vial wall — never directly onto the powder. 3) Swirl gently until dissolved — never shake. 4) Note the concentration (mg/mL) based on your water volume. 5) Refrigerate at 2-8°C.

Storage Guidelines
Lyophilized peptides: Store at -20°C (freezer). Protect from light and moisture. Reconstituted peptides: Store at 2-8°C (refrigerator). Use within 14-21 days. Never refreeze reconstituted solutions. Always use desiccant packets to protect unopened vials from humidity.
Quality Verification
Before use, visually inspect reconstituted peptides. The solution should be clear and colorless. Any cloudiness, particles, or discoloration indicates potential degradation. Always verify batch numbers against Certificates of Analysis and store COAs with your research records.
